POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITION IN THE SOUZA GROUP

Job Summary

The Souza Group at CFM is offering a postdoctoral position (1+1 years) starting in July 2024 to work with Prof. Ivo Souza in the theoretical description of spatially-dispersive and nonlinear optical responses of materials.

Job Description

The position is part of the I+D+I Project PID2021_129035NB_100 funded by MCIN.

The selected candidate will be hired by the Research Association MPC - Materials Physics Center. The salary will be of 35.650,44€ during the first year before taxes.

The Souza Group at the Center of Materials Physics uses theoretical and computational tools to study the properties of materials from first principles. Our work involves the development of novel theoretical formulations and algorithms, and their application to materials that are being studied experimentally. Current research topics in the group include the study of optical and transport phenomena arising in crystals with broken symmetries from the Berry-phase geometry of the electronic states. Candidates must hold a PhD degree in Physics, preferably in the field of theoretical condensed matter physics. Expertise in the optical and transport properties of solids will be highly appreciated for this particular position, as well as analytical and programming skills.
